Neural Codex is a knowledge hub built to make artificial intelligence understandable. By translating complex research into plain-spoken insight, the platform helps everyone—from curious students to working researchers—grasp how AI works and why it matters.

Challenge

AI headlines were everywhere, but reliable context was hard to find. Neural Codex needed to launch as a trusted voice, fast, credible enough for academics, yet clear enough for newcomers. The task: craft a brand that could cut through hype, earn scholarly respect, and package dense ideas invitingly.

SOLUTION

During my time as a partner and designer at Duties, I co-led Neural Codex from a blank slate to a launch-ready brand. We started with the name, Neural Codex, a plain nod to AI’s neural networks and a “codex” as an open reference book. That idea shaped everything that followed. A muted palette of deep blues and charcoal sets a research-driven tone, while hits of turquoise and amber keep things inviting. A classic serif handles long-form articles; a clean sans serif carries headlines and UI copy. The logo, resembling an open book that shifts gently, represents knowledge in motion.

Illustrations follow the same theme. Each piece is built from simple shapes that flex and morph, showing how AI changes over time. They stay readable at any size, from social tiles to presentation slides.

Everything comes back to one goal: make AI topics clear for beginners and solid for experts. Content follows plain-language rules, and the site’s layout surfaces extra context only when it’s needed. The result is a brand that feels trustworthy but not stuffy, ready to help people learn, discuss, and make better decisions about artificial intelligence.
